Mid-Michigan Republican Party Woes/Republican Texts From Last Night

I got a new number a little over 4 years ago, during summer of 2006. I was a little weirded out that over the course of the next few months, I got a handful of phone calls from people looking for "Norm" or the Republican leadership.

Which was confusing, to say the least. I did a search for my number, found out it was still listed as the Republican Party's area chair. I thought it was a little odd that a)the chair only gets a few calls a month, and b)they didn't bother updating it, but whatever. I told a few people who called that it was incorrect, and after a particularly call-heavy day, I even emailed the address listed on the site. Unsurprisingly, considering everything else, I got no response. But I stopped getting calls after a while.

During the 2008 election, I did start to get a few calls. I got a message from the Mitt Romney campaign excited that they might get an endorsement in the primary (ooh. political intrigue. 2 1/2 years too late), but otherwise just enough to be irritating, not enough to worry about the strength of the party. And then it stopped. I may have even thought that was it, they finally got their act together--Norm may have bought a new phone.

Cue the last 2 weeks when I've gotten a barrage of texts and voicemails, all "calling me back". Do these people listen to my voicemail message where I state my name? Do they, oh, I don't know, pay attention to their caller ID? Does Norm not bother letting his people know his name?

So the Mid-Michigan Republican Party's ... failures of communication... are your gain, dear reader! From now on, I'm publishing all texts/voicemails I get from them! No numbers, no full names, but just enough to be a nice inside look at the Party's efforts.

"Norm: have u heard any turnout numbers for Williamston? Wondering if GOP voters are turning out in force or if Independents are voting. Thanks, Del"
